Jul 30, 2021

On July 16 Mifflin Co. Regional Police Officers received a “Report of Suspected Child Abuse” from Mifflin Co. Children & Youth Services. In said report, instances of suspected inappropriate contact were alleged against Douglas Scott Stringfellow, a 63 year old male from Burnham.

Regional Officers opened an investigation. As a part of the investigation, the victim, a juvenile female, was interviewed by professionals at the Children’s Advocacy Center in Bellefonte. As a result of information gleaned from that interview, Officers continued the investigation & were able to gather evidence to corroborate the victim’s account. Officers also learned that this alleged inappropriate contact was both recent & has been ongoing for several years.

Thursday, Officers, in cooperation with DCNR Rangers, located Stringfellow at Poe Valley State Park in Centre Co. Stringfellow was taken into custody without incident & was arraigned before District Justice Kent Smith & incarcerated in the Mifflin Co. Prison on $2,000,000 bail. He has been charged with the following, all against the same juvenile victim:
