Thursday Lewistown State Police responded to a fatal car crash in Juniata Co. that killed a 17-y/o teen girl. The crash happened around 2:15pm along Rt. 75 in Turbett Twp. when a 2006 Chevy Malibu that was driven by another 17-y/o female was northbound traveling at a high rate of speed, struck a bridge abutment with such force that the vehicle split in half. Police suspect the driver was under the influence alcohol or a controlled substance when the crash happened. The driver & a 3rd 17-y/o female who was a passenger in the vehicle received minor injuries & were taken to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital. Police say the other teen was ejected from the vehicle & was pronounced dead at the scene by the Juniata Co. Coroner. The investigation is still ongoing.
A 23-y/o Juniata Co. man has been charged in a fatal Friday afternoon crash that killed one of his passengers. Lewistown State Police have charged Edgar Colon-Vicente was incarcerated in the MCCF following the crash that occured around 1:30pm along US 322 near the overpass of Locust Run Rd. in Delaware Twp. Juniata Co. Police say Colon-Vicente was westbound & began veering off the highway where he lost control & struck a guiderail & several trees. His 1996 Honda Accord then flipped onto the passenger side before coming to rest. The crash killed 23-y/o Sarais Perez-Casas of Danville, AR, who was not wearing a seat belt. Colon-Vicente & another passenger in the vehicle, 26-y/o Angel Lebron Figueroa also of Danville, AR, both received minor injuries. Both were treated at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
