Rockhill Furnace Woman Charged For Stealing 100k From VFW

The Blue Juniata VFW Post 5754 near Mt. Union had over $100,000 stolen allegedly from the Veteran’s organization by its 41-y/o former general manager. Now, Misty Sue Whitsel of Rockhill Furnace has been jailed on felony charges of theft & receiving stolen property. WTAJ-TV reported that Whitsel is accused of pocketing $106,803 between July 2018 & August 2019. She was general manager of the club starting in November 2018. Whitsel admitted to police back in Sept. that she stole money from the post, mainly from the cash drawers & from the skills game machines. Post Commander Jody Campbell told WTAJ-TV that, “It basically shut us down”. Whitsel was arraigned Monday & is awaiting a Feb. 3 hearing while incarcerated at the Huntingdon Co. Jail.
