KACEY MUSGRAVES and RUSTON KELLY played the “it just didn’t work out” card when they announced their divorce last summer. And in a recent interview, she said basically the same thing . . . but added a little poetry to it.
Quote, “It’s two people who love each other so much, but for so many reasons, it just didn’t work. I mean, seasons change. Our season changed.”
The split DID leave her more jaded about the institution. Quote, “Part of me questions marriage as a whole. I was open to it when it came into my life. I embraced it. I just have to tell myself I was brave to follow through on those feelings.
“But look at Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, they’re doing something right. I think I live best by myself. I think it’s okay to realize that.” (Goldie and Kurt have been happily UNmarried for some 38 years.)
Speaking of Kacey. She was asked about the first time she heard a song of hers on the radio. She said, quote, “I balled my eyes out. It was “Merry Go ‘Round”. I don’t think people realize how much work it takes for you to hear your song on the radio.
“It takes years of work, and grinding your bones and traveling and missing your family and missing your grandma’s birthday. You have to sacrifice a lot. But in that moment, when you hear your song for the first time, it’s unbelievable. It’s so emotional.”
