Some people are pretty good at this radio thing. But some people are not…and that’s a good thing, because if JOE NICHOLS had the particular set of skills as some radio DJs, we wouldn’t have his music.
He was a radio DJ back in the day, and he was so bad, he got canned. Or as he puts it, he was “a radio reject.” This came up in a recent interview.
He said, “I had this job doing overnights in Springdale, Arkansas. It was so weird. [I] was terrible at it. I didn’t do what my boss told me to do.”
His boss told him to play the music his listeners wanted to hear, but he wasn’t interested in that. He only played the old school stuff that he liked. So, he was sent packing.
